Services
We provide design and advisory services for gardens of all sizes, predominantly in the south of England and Wales.
We like all of our gardens to be sympathetic to the local environment, to support wildlife and to have sustainable planting, but we don't prescribe the design and feel of each garden - that always comes from the client.
Garden Design
We're happy to help you along as much of the design process as you like, from initial ideas right through to project completion. Our full end-to-end service includes:
a quick questionnaire for you to complete to cover off your basic requirements
client consultation and measuring up
creating, drawing and presenting a concept plan to you, including 3-D visualisations where needed
creating clear technical drawings for a landscape contractor to follow including construction, lighting and planting
assisting with the selection and appointment of a landscape contractor and monitoring/quality checking the project through to completion.
We are also able to order plants for you using our trade accounts.
Planting Advice and Plans
It can be bewildering choosing plants that will suit your soil, climate and position and go well together and provide interest in every season. Even in established gardens, many of us need to rethink plants that will survive hotter summers and wetter winters. Whether you have a few pots on a patio or multiple flower borders on a grand scale, we'll be able to offer some advice and if needed, draw up a full planting plan to meet your needs.
Advice on Garden Maintenance
Looking after your own garden can be one of the most rewarding and life-enhancing activities, whether you're busy all day with work or children, or retired and looking for a hobby. If you're feeling a little bewildered about where to start and what garden tasks to do when, then we can help put together a maintenance plan for you, either through an app or on paper, whichever works best for you.
Planning a Budget to Transform Your Garden
New gardens can be expensive but also extremely worthwhile. It will of course also add value to your property especially when it becomes an outdoor room that extends your home living space. The cost of creating or completely transforming a garden is often compared with that of installing a new kitchen – often £10k to £60k depending on the size and spec. When planning a budget, it may help to calculate the area (in square metres) of garden you wish to work with. You should exclude any areas such as a lawn or driveway that you're not planning to change.
Of course, it's possible to create a garden with just some manual labour and a packet of seeds, but if you're looking to create something special, here are some indications of how much gardens often cost including all construction, materials and planting:
Show gardens: ~£2,000 - £3,000 per square metre
Most dream gardens: £300 - £900 per square metre (depending on landscaping materials and plant maturity)
Planting only: (no landscaping/construction): £50 - £200 per square metre
Our own services will be just a small fraction of the total project cost. There's no charge for the initial consultation and we're happy to work on a day-by-day basis if you don't want to commit initially to full plans. If you wish to spread costs over a few years, it may be appropriate to break down your overall plan into more than one project, each covering a smaller, more manageable area.
